Hey man I can get you a refund. I just need your bank account number and your mother’s maiden name.
The website is gone?
I’m Thai and I’d be hard pressed to buy any land, jewelery, or investments in Thailand. If you decide on buying anything, you’ll need to have friends/contacts in the government to make sure everythings up the up and up on land deals.
On gold or jewels, better have the knowledge or equipment on hand to determine validity of the item.
dont let the shot of your credit card let you get scammed again!
its good you is make people aware but dont blame that on thailand cause that happen all over the world
thats because youve just been scammed…..lol…u didnt catch on….u fell for it…lol
Stange… the scamspotters site doesn’t seem to work.
I suggest going straight to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Police. Do not confuse them with the regular Thai police. They will listen to you, make a report, and then help you to get your money back…I’ve been there, done that in BKK, and got back 90% of our cash within 24hrs.
Bangkok is an amazing city. 100 times better than LA.
Oh my god. Buying gems in Thailand? Let me guess , an English speaking tourist put you on to the seller. Give me £1000 I’ll give you a sure fire way of never being scammed in Thailand. Pop the cash in an envelope and address it to…

Thailand is NO third world country ,,, check it out ! Bangkok leaves LA in the dust .
no, I had read in books that thailand and laos have the most rubies in the world and that they were good places to purchase. That is true that they do have the most rubies in the world, but I would not recommend to anyone purchasing gems there or an any third world country.
You thought you were scamming them and Thais scammed you ,,,, get street smart !
for three different people
WHY BUY 3 RINGS ?
lol
The sit is going ok, it grows as more people post their stories and the similiarities between the scams is unnerving. For me the issue was that I trust other tourists in other countries, and now I won’t do that.
Hey dude, just checked out your site. I got scammed in Thailand earlier this year – was just there for one day on a flight stopover. Traveling on my own, knew to watch out for people who told me they had a friend/uncle/cousin who could get me a good deal on jewelery but I had no idea that it could be so involved! Luckily I was still skeptical and didnt part out too much money for the ring I got – it was pretty much a present for myself… I’d be keen to know how your site’s going.
This sounds so ignorant. I’ve also “traveled the world” and how can you ever KNOW you’ve never been scammed? Do you really always count your change? Have you ever haggled for anything, bought anything on the street, or stayed in a hostel? Do you read the native language menus at restaurants? Do you check taxi tire pressure and meters? So you’re certain you’ve never been scammed huh?
Yeah, first look at your website: you place the Caribbean & Guatemala in North America? Didn’t you study geography in 4th grade? In your video you admit to getting scammed for $5K in Thailand? They must love you! Learn not to get scammed for $50 and you’ll not even end up looking at phoney gems rings: ugly rings in cheap boxes…what WERE you thinking/!
I’ve traveled the world, never been scammed. Scammers look for easy takes, not street-wise people. Tourists that take drinking vacations get scammed all the time. A thief needs only to follow them to 3 bars, then watch for the drunk tourist to leave their wallet unattended: 2 seconds and the wallet is gone! They spend 20 minutes looking for it, that’s 20 minutes for them to be gone… Get smarter, then start traveling the world. Maybe this guy’s website will help.
Good for you, Doug! I hope your crusade helps hundreds of other would-be victims. We miss you in New York, but I’m sure the pristine beauty of Colorado is the sanctuary you need just now. I will check out your site. Stay in touch.
oh hey Doug! I actually know a couple guys in NM that were ring leaders in a gem scam. They got busted and some how someone else was framed and served the time. I’ll see if I can find the link online somewhere. They are real jerks.
Burn!!!!!
Is that still a valid credit card that you showed? Would be pretty ironic if you got scammed by showing your credit card on youtube.
Good point. And how does someone from the UK, Japanese who speaks English, or German who speaks English feel when they go to New York City and few of the taxi drivers there speak English – or at least not an English the passengers can understand? In Spain, nearly all of the taxi drivers are Spanish. In the New York City, USA almost none of the taxi drivers are American!
Wow the palace was beautiful! Thailand is definately on my list of places to visit. thanks for the updates!
You can always find me? LULz. Right, Kid. Listen…. I understand how disappointed you are that I said NO to you. But I gotta tell ya straight up, honey…. EWE FIND YOUR BALLS IF THEY HAD BELLS ON THEM.
