Vacation With Family
If you are crazy about boating, remember, that the key condition for successful hike is a good team. Even bad equipment, repulsive food, nasty weather and poorly chosen route will not mar your pleasure from the trip if an excellent team has been formed.
I should say at once that no tourist group is really ideal, for nothing can serve as an optimum criterion for selecting the participants. Even in well co-ordinated team conflicts and quarrels, illnesses and deep dejections and nervous exhaustions can appear in extreme conditions. On the other hand, according to philosophy of active tourism, any team is good, if it kicks in the behind and stimulates packing up a backpack!
We can give you a lot of team selection criteria, but all of them should be subordinated safety reasons first of all, because the boating (owing to its mass character) always has the first place by quantity of tragic scenes. Of course, organizers keep mum about it, but it must be kept in mind, first of all by instructors. No risk will be justified in case of death of one of participants of the trip; it will also harm tourist movement on the whole. And this case can’t disappear without a trace for survivors. I mean that it is a great psychological trauma, even if they count them blessings.
Every participant must have:
1. Physical health. It does not mean that all of you should be absolutely healthy. It must be balance between physical possibilities of participants and complexity of a route. If the group is completed by women, children, animals, invalids etc. :
– all participants must be informed before the beginning of a trip;
– the quantity of team members must be regulated, for example, one child must be protected by two physically healthy adult participants.
– it must also be stipulated who helps whom in emergencies and who is responsible for every area of work.
2. Psychological compatibility with a team. This characteristic is very important on routes of any complexity. Many trips have been spoilt by casual people in tourism without “common touch” which did not understand and did not accept complexities of a field life. That’s why it is better to give preference to reliable tourists. Select people guided by this principle very carefully, without fanaticism, don’t forget that most of them are not guilty that they are brought up like this.
3. Experience of tourist travel. Correspondence of a complexity of a route to experience of the participant means.
4. Equipment. Of course, it is profitable to accept a participant with his own equipment (a kayak, tent etc.). The whole team will have much to gain from it. Comfort of the traveler depends on a quality of equipment in field conditions. The convenient equipment creates good mood. And this is good for the whole group.
5. Love for the nature and a high order of intelligence. The fact is that these two qualities cannot exist without each other and should be the basic criteria of selection. In real life everything is much more difficult.

Christine, you have a magical blog! Your comments and references to “Zen” in my QT threads compelled me to visit your blog and glad I did. I suspect we have a great deal in common and will touch base more often in the future, once we “grow” through the holiday season. One minor critique about this page is the falling snow. very pretty but horribly when reading text – for me anyway – almost akin to motion sickness.
Hi,
been living in Cusco for a little over a year. The people I know say this stuff never happened under Fujimori who is beloved by the poorer people and not so much by those with money. He built a lot of schools in rural areas. President Alan Garica is busy selling out the Amazon and care about the indigenous people. As you know Cusco lives and dies by tourism and the strikes are bad for that. Peru Rail honors all the strikes so that shuts down all tourist movement too. We also saw a large army truck with about 30 tourists standing in the back of it heading towards the center of town from the since there were no taxis in service. Be safe and maybe you should walk the next time there is a strike wherever you are.
My friend Rohit Hangal who runs largest Tourism trade show – tells me that Saudi Arabia is getting very active on tourism. How the world changeth! I did a quick Google search but could not find an official Saudi tourism site; so they probably have some way to go.

Oliver Laughland on the people and stories in the media spotlight in the last seven days The story The common couple From the moment they drove down the mall in daddy’s vintage Aston adorned with post-ironic L-plates, balloons and streamers, it was clear Kate and Wills really were striving for the common touch. They returned to their modest home in Anglesey, where he continued the day job, she did the shopping, and then they both retired in private for a honeymoon to the Seychelles. But news the couple are recruiting their own staff (butler, dresser, housekeeper) may be enough to break the newly formed consensus that they’re just like the rest of us. They’re not, and never will be. The statistic 1,800 people … … plan to sabotage AC Grayling’s New College of the Humanities with false applications. The campaign on Facebook asks to fill out an application to Grayling’s private university and cite leprechaun gold" as their means to pay the £18,000 a year…
